Ernest Woolley

Colonel Ernest John Woolley MC was born in 1888 and was a stockbroker.

He volunteered in the Great War, gaining a commission and serving in the 22nd London Regiment (the Queen’s), rising to the rank of captain and winning the MC. Peacetime would see him rise to the the rank of Colonel and command his regiment.

He served as President of the Grand Junction and Grand Union Canal Companies from 1937 to 1941 and after the war was president of the National Conference of Road Transport Clearing Houses after the war and was president of the National Conference of Road Transport Clearing Houses.

He was initiated into the lodge of Friendship & Harmony No 1616 in Weybridge, Surrey.
