St John Gamlen

St John Onslow Gamlen was an undergraduate student at Oxford when the Old Malvernian Lodge was consecrated. He had been initiated into the Apollo University Lodge No 356.

After coming down he praised law. He spent time as both a Barrister and a Solicitor, acting on behalf of several authors and their estates.

Among his other interests he photographed and documented the Gilbertine stained glass windows that were once installed at Chicksands Priory, which were removed during the second world war before that building’s current incarnation as an officers mess, first for the RAF, then the USAF and now the Defence Intelligence & Security Centre.
